Whether you want to make weekend trips from your home base or transition to a full-time RV lifestyle, a motorhome is a wonderful way to experience BC and beyond. With different classes of motorhomes to choose from – including A, B and C classifications – there are several advantages of motorized RVs.

Class A motorhomes feature specially designed heavy-duty frames, known as motor vehicle chassis or commercial bus chassis. Available with gas or diesel engines, these large RVs range from 30 to 40 feet in length and have a vertical front windshield like a bus.
Class A motorhomes offer many comforts of home and are a popular choice for long-distance travellers. Boasting large slide-outs, this class provides generous interior space for storage and room to move around. Many models sleep two to four people, but some motorhomes maximize space with drop-down bunk beds and sleeper sofas in addition to the main bedroom. Residential-style appliances, such as refrigerators, microwaves, washers and dryers, are also the norm. You can expect to find high-quality electronics and designer furniture with well-thought-out floor plans – some models even offer two bathrooms.

Known as B-vans or camper vans, Class B motorhomes are built on a van chassis and come equipped with gas or diesel engines. Measuring 20-25 feet in length, these RVs are nimble and drive like a standard automobile and are perfect for travelling through busy cities or exploring remote areas. This type of RV can often fit in a garage for secure storage, too.

Class B motorhomes are smaller than Class A and Class C models, but they are comfortable and feature an efficient use of space. Some floor plans include a single slide-out or raised roof height to expand the RV's square footage. You'll also find many space-saving amenities, such as wet baths with combined toilet and shower facilities, galley kitchens and seating areas that convert into beds. With a sleeping capacity for two to three people, this type of RV is popular with couples and solo travellers.

Positioned between A and B are Class C motorhomes, which feature a truck chassis with a gas or diesel engine. Measuring between 24 to 32 feet in length, this type of RV is recognizable by the over-cab sleeping area that provides additional living space for families of all sizes.

Class C motorhomes offer similar amenities to their Class A counterparts on a smaller scale. Most have at least one slide-out to maximize square footage and a fully-equipped kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, stovetop and cabinetry for storage. With a sleeping capacity for four to eight people, Class C motorhomes feature a main bedroom with a queen- or king-size bed and other comfortable accommodations, including bunks, convertible dinettes, folding sofas and the cab-over bed.

Whether you want to live a full-time RV lifestyle or travel in comfort to exciting locales, a motorhome could be the best choice.
